Annual Dinner with Guest Speaker
Dinner will include 3-courses, drinks (wine, soft drinks, tea & coffee) for CHF 100 p.p. (members) and CHF 120 p.p. (non-members). Payment QR code and IBAN details are indicated below.
Dress code: business, smart casual. Parking is available at Geneva Cornavin train station.
Our guest speaker at the dinner will be Lieutenant General Sir Edward Alexander Smyth-Osbourne, KCVO, CBE, who is a retired senior British Army officer, who will speak on the topic “Defence in this quickly changing world”.
An Eton College graduate, he studied at the University of St Andrews, graduating with an undergraduate Master of Arts (MA Hons).
Smyth-Osbourne was commissioned into The Life Guards in 1983 and went on to be Commanding Officer of the Household Cavalry Regiment in 2005, and in that role deployed to Afghanistan in 2007.
He then became Commander of the 38th (Irish) Brigade in 2009, Director of the ISAF Force Reintegration Cell in 2012, and Major-General commanding the Household Division in July 2013.
Smyth-Osbourne was Prince William's and Prince Harry's Commanding Officer in the Household Cavalry Regiment and acted as their military mentor. He was also Prince Harry's Commanding Officer whilst the Prince was under active service in Afghanistan and was invited to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in April 2011.
He relinquished command of the Household Division in June 2016 and was knighted and invested as a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by the Queen, and was appointed Colonel of The Life Guards and Gold Stick in Waiting to the Queen in June 2019.
He became Deputy Commander of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps, Italy in July 2016, and took command of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps in July 2019, before retiring in April 2022.
