Statement on the Passing of Diccon Bewes - Beloved Author and BSCC Friend
The BSCC conveys its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Berne-based British author Diccon Bewes, who lost his brave fight with cancer on 11 March 2025.
Diccon was a gifted observer of people and places, putting Switzerland on the map in a unique and unforgettable way. Many a BSCC Member has enjoyed reading Diccon’s books, the first of which, «Swiss Watching», quickly became essential reading for anyone new to Switzerland.
Many BSCC Members will also have enjoyed Diccon’s Swiss insights at first-hand. Not only did Diccon speak at a range of BSCC Chapter events over the years, but he also regularly acted as Quiz Master for the BSCC Quiz Night in Zurich.
Diccon was a great friend to the BSCC and he will be very sadly missed. But his spirit lives on in the books he wrote - and these will continue to inform, inspire and amuse us for many years to come.
